Dr. Timothy Brunson has been a full-time orthodontist with SMILES of Austin and SMILES of Dripping Springs since 2010 and became a partner in 2017. When asked about what drew him to orthodontics, he reflects back to his own childhood orthodontist and how influential the experience and relationship were. The care and interest in not only the orthodontic treatment but also his hobbies and extracurricular activities made it an enjoyable experience that both created a great smile and built confidence.
From a young age, Dr. Brunson was always interested in dentistry, but after his time in braces, he knew he wanted to be an orthodontist. As a fourth-generation dentist, whose grandfather was also his dentist, he understands the impact of the relationship and making sure patients are at ease. Like his grandfather, he wants dental visits to be fun.
Patient Care
I truly believe I have the best job in the world. I wake up each morning looking forward to going to work. I love interacting with my patients and feel so fortunate that I get to do what I do.
My goals for my patients are simple. I want them to feel like family. I want them to receive the most outstanding care possible and for their experience with us to exceed their expectations. I want them to enjoy their orthodontic experience.
One of the best aspects of my job is the day our patients get their braces off. It is so fun to see their big beautiful smile as they see the final result after treatment. Helping our patients achieve the smile of their dreams is very fulfilling and rewarding.

Training
Originally from California, he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Southern California in 2005. He then continued his education at USC, where he earned both his Masters Degree in Craniofacial Biology and completed his advanced training in orthodontics in 2008. As an active member of several professional memberships, he has been honored with numerous awards for excellence in clinical orthodontics and continues to enhance his training by attending continuing education on the latest technology and advancements in orthodontics.
Family
My family is amazing. I am so lucky to have Megan as my wife. She is so kind and caring. We are blessed with 2 sets of twins! I never thought that we would have a set of twins, let alone two. Each of our four children is so unique and talented. It has been the joy of our lives to raise them, spend time with them, and to watch them grow together.
Most of my free time is spent with our children on their interests and hobbies. I coach flag football, spot gymnasts, and am a troop leader with the Boy Scouts. I enjoy restoring furniture, gardening, and spending time with Megan when we aren’t working on community service projects with our local church group. When I can find any free time, I am a true sports fan (baseball and college football).
Austin is such a family-friendly community. There are so many fun things to do here, from the entertainment to the great outdoors it truly is a destination city. I feel very lucky to live in Austin and to raise my children here.
Community
I love giving back to the community and participate in the ‘Give Kids a Smile Program’. I have traveled internationally to provide dental care to those less fortunate in underserved areas of Belize, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico. I also spent 2 years in South Korea as a church missionary. Currently, I’m a member of several local service groups that help the less fortunate and provide disaster relief and continue to be involved with the Boy Scouts of America as a troop leader
